PERSONAL/BIO INFO
When did you get started as a barista and how?
This year we set out to open a coffee house, roaster, bakery to open in November 2011. I have made espresso drinks at home for several years. The coffee house has been a progression of events leading up to this adventure.
Who is your mentor in brewing?
Trial and Error. Visits to many coffee houses from California to Washington, personal experience and Internet resources.
Where would you like to be a guest barista?
I would enjoy learning from any of the specialty coffee houses, micro roasters out there in Washington that produce excellent drinks.
ON BREWING
First piece of brewing equipment?
1. French Press
2. Krups Espresso Machine
3. Rancillio Silvia
What is your favorite shift and why?
Hmmmm...
Not sure yet. But, I enjoy the time I get to spend In conversation with people around a good cup of coffee.
What in-season single origin coffee are you currently enjoying?
Wow! We are roasting several excellent single origins!
Guatemala Antigua
Bolivia
Brazil FTO
What is your current favorite recipe to brew on a trifecta?
Current favorite has to be the Ethiopian Sidoma Natural from Victrola Coffee Roasters that Rusty made for me at the Seattle CoffeeFest. That sold me on buying a Trifecta for our coffee house! It had a wonderful floral aroma, which I don't normally care for, and was an excellent cup.
